We often view quantity of interactions above the quality of the actions. The interactions being made are often to seek validation and affirmation.
Placing value above quantity and volume is reserved for issues that are really important to ourselves, much like health or wealth. Once it comes to consumerism, why pay for one really good product or service, when you can get several products or services for the same price, but a lower quality.
