Within a social media induced society we pretty much want to be liked, followed and hopefully respected for what we have accomplished.
The irony, we also want to be unique, special and the only one that does things the way I do it. If that was the case, no one would like us, follow us or respect us.
We enjoy and thrive within groups that are like minded, we seek approval and recognition for our thoughts, process and contribution. We want to belong within a group of peer and above.
The same applies in business, you should not want to be the only one, you want to be better than them, or at least learn from others to be the better. We either create, to teach or associate to learn.
To be the only one, is disingenuous to improvement.
