Due to the consumer protection act and the constitution, we cannot limit any service from joining Verified Services. So we have set in certain parameters for contractors to set themselves apart from the other contractors. We have also asked the contractors when joining to tick certain boxes that separate the above average business, compared to the fly by night bakkie brigade.
We have a process in place where we can label a contractor as a verified member, to achieve this, copies of certain documentation must be supplied. A letter of good standing with the workmen’s compensation, a letter from their insurance company of valid insurance.

To my knowledge, trade associations firstly do not advertise for the members. Trade associations only create a platform for the consumer to check if the tradesman is qualified in their respective fields. Being qualified does not mean that they are quality or compliant contractors.
